Position Summary

Trade Operations is an integral part of the business interfacing with the procurement, sales, finance, warehousing, and logistics teams. Its mission is to preserve and enhance the trading margins by optimizing sales allocations, planning logistics routings, as well as pushing excess inventory to market. The team adds to the trading discussion by providing relevant information derived from the physical inventory, as well as maintaining an inventory by region/quality position.

As an Analyst within the team, you will be responsible for a region pulling cotton from interior warehouses, managing transit warehouse flows, optimizing warehouse capacity utilization, as well as moving cotton onto export sales. The workload is seasonal and heaviest during the cotton harvest which spans September through February. Between crops time is spent on continuous improvement of systems and processes.

Position Responsibilities

  • Planning and assigning cotton to sale contracts; tying to ocean freight bookings.
  • Confirming that assigned cotton meets sales contract specifications.
  • In close collaboration with the logistics and warehouse teams providing subject matter expertise on sales allocations and planning.
  • Subject matter expert on EWR (Electronic warehouse receipts) ensuring that titles documents are properly maintained internally and distributed to the relevant parties for shipment, as well as troubleshooting as needed.
  • Responsible for timely redemption of equity cotton from the US government loan (PCCA and COPS).
  • Responsible for tracking truck lane capacity, as well as longer terms capacity utilization forecast for trucking and ocean freight requirements.
  • Point person for both internal and external warehouse relationships. Responsible for requesting and following up on load-out dates from interior warehouses.
  • Participate in continuous learning about system capabilities, supply chain processes, and perform process improvements as deemed necessary by the business.
  • Responsible for the management of cut/damaged bales and the insurance claim process. Ensure all claims are reported accurately and timely.
  • Reconcile the daily sales activity and input into relevant information systems
  • Maintain the Master Warehouse Tariff file in inventory system.
  • Update Due Sheet daily with sales allocations.
  • Produce and distribute cotton classing data to internal and external parties as needed.
  • Report cotton sales and shipment to the USDA on a weekly basis / quarterly basis as required.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis based on requests from internal stakeholders.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Must be able to problem solve and handle multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including but not limited to Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively manage workload to meet deadlines, while ensuring a high standard of quality.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required, concentration in Supply Chain Management or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to comprehend the drivers of the underlying business.
  • One (1) year of work experience in a corporate environment, preferably in a supply chain role.
