Job Description

Our client is currently seeking a FSQA Manager for their modern, food manufacturing facility near Galesburg IL. This is a fantastic organization bolstering exceptionally low turnover and an amazing company-wide, people centric culture. The Food Safety & Quality Manager is responsible for providing technical quality and food safety leadership and expertise for the manufacturing /distribution of the plant’s products. The principle responsibility is to assure that the Food Safety and Quality Management System (FSQMS) is fully implemented and functional and that the facility and products meet safety and food regulatory requirements. The responsibility also encompasses assuring quality awareness as well as continuous improvement programs are in place to assure overall quality progress.

This facility just underwent massive capital investment that has updated its equipment & capabilities. The Manager will have several Direct Report Supervisors and Food Safety, Quality and Sanitation Teams. Relocation Assistance is Provided

This job will have the following responsibilities:

  • Lead integration of the current quality assurance and food safety processes into one integrated process which ties to business objectives. This includes HACCP system (Food Safety Plan), regulatory audits, quality systems review process (QSR), standard operating procedures (SOP's), incoming ingredient inspections, food safety audits, field complaints, managing Statistical Process Control system, calibration and preventive maintenance programs and standardized work instructions.
  • Develop and execute Plans to achieve/maintain safe food and SQF Certification at the facility and to meet all company requirements related to quality and food safety programs.
  • Oversee plant compliance, interactions, and relationship with SQF Certification Body and consultants.
  • Act as the facility’s main FDA contact and lead regulatory inspections and 3rd party audits with joint ownership and responsibility with the Plant Manager for driving associated corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain systems to assure facility meets all SQF requirements including Commitment, Document Control and Records, Specifications, Attaining Food Safety,
  • Oversee monitoring, verification, and validation activities to ensure that all products leaving the facility meet the facility Food Safety and Quality Plans.
  • Manage/ Oversee pest control contract and microbiological testing to assure compliance with SQF and Quality standards.
  • Lead the development and implementation of statistical tools and systems to support continuous process and product improvement.
  • Act as an active contributor on the Facility Management Team to meet all business objectives. Manage and develop all QA personnel.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Safety, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, Engineering or related field.
  • 4+ years of FSQA Experience within food manufacturing
  • Demonstrate leadership in the areas of food safety and plant regulatory affairs.
  • HACCP Certification / PCQI Certification Preferred
  • Experience Auditing within FSQ Management Systems, including internal / external auditing for compliance.
  • Experience with FDA and/or USDA Rules and Regulations.
