Responsibilities:
• Inspection Planning: Develop inspection plans and schedules based on project timelines, construction progress, and regulatory requirements.
• Site Visits: Conduct on-site inspections at various locations, including commercial buildings, residential properties, outdoor spaces, and public venues, to assess lighting installations.
• Compliance Check: Verify that lighting installations adhere to applicable safety codes, industry standards, and local regulations. Ensure compliance with photometric requirements, electrical codes, and energy efficiency guidelines.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed records of inspection findings, including photographs, notes, and reports. Document any non-compliance issues and deviations from design specifications.
• Quality Assessment: Evaluate the quality of lighting fixtures, lamps, controls, and wiring to ensure they meet established standards for performance and durability.
• Testing: Perform functional testing of lighting systems, including circuitry, sensors, timers, and emergency lighting features. Ensure that the lighting controls are programmed correctly.
• Energy Efficiency: Assess the energy efficiency of lighting systems and recommend improvements or retrofits to enhance efficiency and reduce energy consumption.
• Safety Measures: Identify potential safety hazards related to lighting installations and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks, such as addressing exposed wiring or improper grounding.
• Client Communication: Communicate inspection findings and recommendations to clients, contractors, and project stakeholders in a clear and professional manner.
• Consultation: Provide guidance and advice to clients and contractors on best practices for lighting design, installation, and maintenance.
• Reinspection: Conduct follow-up inspections after corrective actions have been taken to verify that deficiencies have been addressed and installations now meet compliance standards.
• Report Generation: Generate comprehensive inspection reports detailing the status of lighting installations, any issues identified, and recommended actions.
Qualifications:
Education : A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required. Additional coursework or certification in electrical systems, lighting, or building inspection is beneficial.
Experience :
• Some experience in lighting inspection, electrical inspection, or a related field is preferred.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant safety codes, industry standards (e.g., IESNA), and electrical regulations is essential.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in using testing equipment and tools for electrical and lighting systems. Knowledge of lighting control systems and their operation.
• Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey inspection findings clearly and professionally.
• Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail to identify issues and discrepancies in lighting installations.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to assess complex lighting systems and recommend effective solutions to address deficiencies.
• Customer Service: Courteous and professional demeanor when interacting with clients and stakeholders.
• Safety Focus: Commitment to safety protocols and the ability to recognize and mitigate safety risks during inspections.
